Alliston

Location:  Simcoe County, New Tecumseth   N 44 09.028  W 079 52.249
Located on the north east corner of Albert Street and Paris Street, beside the Curling Club.

This is a fairly new memorial, only being erected in the past year.  There is currently a large controversy  in Alliston regarding the future of the old Memorial Arena, in turn, the town has erected this new monument to honour its lost heroes.
The monument is very attractive and colourful, consisting of a single large slab of black granite, with inscriptions in white lettering.  The crests of the Town, the Legion and adorning poppies are coloured with appropriate flair.  Five flagpoles grace the monument, and a large courtyard surrounds the area.  To be as politically correct as possible, the memorial is bilingual, although this is not a French-speaking community, as evidence by the list of names.
