Ryerson - Pte Douglas Wiseman




Location:  N 45° 36.306 W 079° 27.547   Found at the Midlothian Museum, on Midlothian Road, west of Burk's Falls.  This small community was once known as Ryerson.


The memorial  is dedicated to the memory of Pte. Douglas Wiseman who was killed in action at the Battle of Cambria in 1918.   The text is difficult to read, due to the weathering of the stone.  His name also appears on the memorial in nearby Burks' Falls.

  1. Private Wiseman was a member of the Canadian Infantry(Central Ontario Regiment), 102 Battalion. Service #3317127.
    Buried in the Bucquoy Road Cemetery, Ficheux, France.
    The memorial here at Ryerson list the date of his death as October 2, but according to official records, it was actually on October 3, 1918.
